Wolverhampton Wanderers have a lot to sort out over the next few months. Gary O'Neil deserves all the plaudits for his work at Molineux but a successful campaign fizzled out in the late stages and now it is imperative to move for signings capable of taking the team further next year.

Talks have already been held regarding the signing of Southampton's Che Adams, who is out of contract in one month, while Manchester City and Newcastle United are leading the charge to sign Wolves star Pedro Neto, who is valued at £60m.

Much to do, but O'Neil has proved his credentials and given that the club are already lining up replacements for Neto, should he leave, there's plenty of cause for optimism.

According to Spanish outlets AS and Grada1 – via Sport Witness – Wolves are set to tussle with Aston Villa and West Ham United for the signing of Viktor Tsygankov, who has been a key part of Girona's stunning season, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in their 94-year history (awaiting UEFA clearance due to shared ownership with Manchester City).

The Ukrainian is understood to have a market price of €28m (£24m) and is calmly evaluating his options ahead of the official opening of the transfer window.

Neto, in comparison, chalked up nine assists and created seven big chances in the Premier League, only starting 18 matches during his injury-disrupted season, though it's easy to see that Tsygankov has the core qualities that could make him an excellent replacement.

As per FBref, Tsygankov ranks among the top 19% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for assists and the top 9% for clearances per 90, denoting his impressive mix of creative and industrious defensive attributes.

The £23k-per-week ace would be a worthy successor to a dynamic winger like Neto in this regard, who has been praised for his "absolutely incredible" technical ability by his manager but has also averaged four ball recoveries and 3.5 successful duels per game in the Premier League this term, highlighting his energy and tenacity.

According to reports in Italy via The Shields Gazette, Como 1907 are close to signing Loris Karius, who wants to move to Italy to be closer to his family. The former Liverpool shot-stopper has even appointed an Italian agency with the explicit intent of finding a new home in Serie A, with the Magpies also confirming he is free to find a new home.

The Italian side meanwhile have just earned promotion to top flight, with Cesc Fàbregas playing his part as assistant manager, and now the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder could use his Premier League expertise to welcome Karius on a free deal this summer.

Karius played just twice for Newcastle and will leave hoping to finally earn a starting role to put an end to a nightmare few years and get his career back on track at last.

Last chance saloon for "great" Karius

Since quite literally fumbling his Liverpool career in a Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid in 2018, Karius has been unable to return to a starting role, finding himself as low as the number three spot behind Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka at Newcastle. Now 30 years old, a last chance beckons for the shot-stopper and a last chance that he must take.

The German will be hoping to find the form that he showed in one of his two Newcastle appearances in their Carabao Cup final defeat against Manchester United last season. Howe was full of praise for Karius after his performance, saying via The Metro: "I think his all-round demeanour was good, his distribution was good.

"I thought he made some great saves, especially when we were chasing the game. He was always going to have to play well in that second half as we were leaving grass behind our back line, but he can be really proud of his efforts today."

Once a Champions League goalkeeper, Karius looks set to get one more chance to take a number one role in Italy this summer, potentially working under a Premier League legend.

Many Arsenal fans will be familiar with the story of when the club fumbled an opportunity to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Arsene Wenger's tenure. Arsenal's interest in Serie A marksman

According to Sky Sports, the Gunners are one of the clubs eyeing a deal to sign Bologna centre-forward Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report claims that they are closely monitoring the Netherlands international alongside fellow Premier League side Manchester United, who did not qualify for the Champions League this season.

This could give the London giants an edge over their rivals if the former Bayern Munich attacker is keen on playing in Europe's premier cup competition.

However, Italian side AC Milan are also pushing hard to get a deal done for the young whiz and have already held talks with his representatives during a meeting in London, but they are yet to reach an agreement.

Sky Sports also states that the player has a release clause of £34m in his current contract with Bologna, which would allow any of the interested sides to snap him up without having to outbid each other.

They then reveal that Arsenal have decided to turn their attention away from Premier League targets, namely Alexander Isak, and are looking abroad for a young striker who they could develop, like Zirkzee.

Why Arsenal should sign Joshua Zirkzee

Firstly, he fits what the club are looking for as the Dutch star is a 23-year-old forward who has plenty of time left to develop and improve his game. But Zirkzee could also be an excellent immediate addition to Arteta's squad as a young and unique centre-forward who has been compared to the legendary Ibrahimovic.

Analyst Ben Mattinson described him as being an "insane" athlete "just like" the retired Swedish superstar due to his incredible agility and athleticism whilst standing at a height of 6 foot 4.

As you can see in the table above, he also has an impressive end product at the top end of the pitch to go along with his "unheard of" – per Mattinson – physical attributes.

Whilst it did not lead to a goal, due to the poor finish, the clip above illustrates all of this as Zirkzee holds off defenders, twists and turns, and then impressively uses his heel to perfectly set up a teammate for a big chance.
