كشف ديفوك أوريجي مهاجم ليفربول، عن تعرضه للعنصرية في مسيرته الكروية بسبب لون بشرته السمراء، عندما كان صغيرًا.

وفي حديثه كجزء من حملة No Room For Racism التي ترعاها الدوري الإنجليزي، تذكر أوريجي كيف عانى من التمييز بسبب لون بشرته لأول مرة عندما كان مراهقًا.

وتذكر لاعب ليفربول، البلجيكي من أصل كيني، كيف كان يشعر بـ “التقليل” بعد الإساءة التي تلقاها من قبل والد أحد الخصوم.

وقال أوريجي: “كانت لدينا مباراة خارج ملعبنا وقام أحد الوالدين بإساءة عنصرية لي، لأنني كنت أقدم أداء أفضل من ابنه، كان يقول لي أشياء مؤلمة للغاية، وأتذكر أنني تعرضت لانهيار عصبي وبكيت كثيرًا بعد المباراة، لأنه راجل بالغ ولم أكن قادرًا للرد عليه”.

وأضاف: “بعد ذلك لم أستطع اللعب لمدة طويلة، كنت منهارًا وفي حالة نفسية سيئة، شعرت بالتقليل من شأني وشعرت بالخجل، حتى زملائي في الفريق شعروا بالمفاجأة”.

وأردف: “في الدوري الإنجليزي، هناك برازيليين، وهناك أفارقة، وأيضًا إنجليز، جيعنا نتواجد سويًا في غرفة خلع الملابس”.

وأكمل: “التفاعل في غرفة ملابس ليفربول مضحك للغاية، ساديو ماني يأتي بالملابس السنغالية التقليدية أحيانًا، وأحبها كثيرًا، كذلك روبرتسون، أسكتلندي وهذا يؤثر عليه في طريقته”.

وأردف: “الثقافة الإفريقية بهيجة للغاية، نحب أن نعبر عن أنفسنا من خلال الموسيقى والرقص والإبداع، أنا فخور أنني من أصل إفريقي”.

واختتم: “أعتقد أن هذه هي كل الأشياء التي نحاول إدخالها في المباراة، وهذا ما يجعل كرة القدم أكثر جمالًا، لأن لها العديد من الجوانب المختلفة”.

Is Martin O’Neill the man to take Nottingham Forest forward? Fans are certainly torn over the answer to that question and could become clearer by the end of the season, judging as to whether they make the play-offs or not. 

With a place in the play-offs at the moment unlikely, it seems that Martin O’Neill will have a lot of time over the summer to adapt his team so they can finally achieve promotion next season.

He does know the club and understands the fans have high expectations, so it could prove to be a very important summer transfer window indeed.

So what has gone wrong for the team that spent over £25 million at the start of the season? Their failure to kill off games has come back at them a number of times and is therefore down to the lack of finishers in their team apart from Lewis Grabban.

In a bid to solve that problem, trying to sign Southampton’s Sam Gallagher once again would be a great idea as he’s ready to prove himself on a regular basis.

Gallagher, (who is valued at £2.7 million on Transfermarkt) was a target (as per Alan Nixon of the Sun) for Nottingham Forest along with a number of other Championship sides in January, after Gallagher has played just 30 minutes of Premier League football this season.

The 23-year-old cannot afford to play that little amount of time if he is to progress in his career so a move away this summer will be the best idea for him.

Last season he spent the campaign on-loan with Birmingham and with seven goals to his name, went some way to proving why he is a good Championship striker.

Options in the market for a striker are generally rare so should the opportunity come along once again to sign Sam Gallagher, no hesitation should be made from Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have waxed lyrical about the form of youngster Troy Parrott and some have even urged Mauricio Pochettino to start the teenager against Huddersfield Town this weekend.

The striker scored twice on Wednesday as Spurs’ Under-18 side beat Chelsea 2-0.

Parrott netted the first after an excellent through ball from midfield before doubling his tally with an exquisite free-kick.

The 17-year-old has scored a total of 14 goals for the Under-18 side this season in just ten games.

Indeed, he has scored braces in six games thus far this season, twice against Brighton & Hove Albion, and once versus West Ham United, Aston Villa, Leicester City and now the Blues.

He has also scored three goals in five UEFA Youth League outings, including a strike against Barcelona.

And fans believe that he is capable of doing a job for the first-team, particularly after Harry Kane sustained an injury in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City.

The England captain limped straight down the tunnel after a clash with Three Lions team-mate Fabian Delph at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and could miss the run-in as Spurs attempt to qualify for the Champions League via a top-four finish.

وتلاقى الفريقان في ثاني جولات دور مجموعات دوري أبطال أوروبا، حيث فاز تشيلسي بأربعة أهداف دون رد.

It has been a frustrating couple of months for Leeds United’s Kemar Roofe, hasn’t it?

After suffering a serious knee injury during the Whites’ 2-1 victory against Swansea City at the start of February, the forward had to watch on from the sidelines as his team-mates continued the club’s fight for automatic promotion from the Championship without him.

Although there were initial concerns that Roofe may miss the rest of the season for Leeds, a successful period of rehabilitation allowed him to return as a substitute in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City earlier this month.

With his presence on the bench putting pressure on fellow striker Patrick Bamford to deliver, the 25-year-old has stepped up his performances in the last two weeks. A brace for the former Chelsea ace against Preston North End was followed by a promising outing in last week’s 1-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.

Potentially in for a start once again on Good Friday against Wigan Athletic, Bamford’s form could force Roofe to have to settle for sporadic appearances between now and May.

Although the former Oxford United striker is still on course to be the club’s top-scorer this season having already fired in 14 goals, he was fairly magnanimous when asked about the prospect of being overtaken by his team-mate. Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Roofe admitted that: “Honestly, it wouldn’t mean anything.

“As long as my performances are good and the team wins and we get promoted, that’s the main thing.

“Whoever scores, it is what it is. I would rather play 10 out of 10 and someone else scores than play two out of 10 and score a goal. I would rather put the performance in.

“But if the team keeps winning I am not going to play so I am not going to score any!”

By revealing his selflessness, the 26-year-old has shown just why Marcelo Bielsa’s squad have managed to get into the position to secure a top-two finish in May this season. Whereas other years have seen Leeds crack under the pressure of expectation, the togetherness on show throughout the 2018/19 campaign can only be positive news for the club’s supporters.

With Roofe willing to sacrifice his own playing time for the sake of the team, it is clear that the Whites have the sufficient level of mental strength needed to prevail in their next four fixtures and thus overcome their rivals Sheffield United in the second tier.

Felipe Anderson believes that he is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, having scored 10 times for West Ham United.

The Hammers paid a club-record fee for Anderson in last summer’s transfer window, with the Brazilian arriving from Lazio.

Anderson has had plenty of positive moments for his English club, but it would also be fair to say that he has disappointed in patches.

And that was just the reaction of the West Ham fans when they read Anderson’s words on the club’s official website.

Indeed, whilst some were keen to pay tribute to the 26-year-old, others were keen to point out that the attacker has blown hot and cold for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this term.

Previously linked with Manchester United, it will certainly be interesting to see whether West Ham can keep the attacker on a long-term basis.

Celtic are reportedly in the running to sign Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly, but he is not the type of signing the club should be aiming for.

What’s the story?

According to The Scottish Sun, both Celtic and Hamburg are interested in Kelly, who will be available for just £50,000 this summer.

The report claims he has a clause in his contract that allows the knockdown fee, and that the 23 year-old “looks certain” to move on after just one season in West Lothian.

Ipswich, Wigan, Barnsley and Reading are all interested as well, while Hamburg and the Hoops continue to monitor the situation.

Pointless signing

There’s no question Kelly would be good value for money at just £50,000.

The former Rangers youth player, who never appeared for the Gers’ first team, has 14 clean sheets in 33 Premiership games this season, an impressive return for a side in the bottom half of the split.

He has also shutout Celtic twice already this term, first at the Almondvale Stadium back in November and then a fantastic performance to protect a 0-0 draw at Parkhead last month.

However, is this really a signing that is going to take the Bhoys to the next level? Scott Bain would presumably stay as first choice, and Craig Gordon is a more than capable deputy.

Basically, this move would be upgrading the number two position rather than the number one position, and it’s simply not necessary.

If the club wants to turn domestic dominance into European success, buying squad players like this is not going to cut it.

Instead, they should be buying players that go straight into the first XI, thus turning the current starters into the squad players themselves and upgrading the quality of the entire group in the process.

Kelly is a good young player, but he is not better than Bain and would be an unnecessary addition to the club’s wage bill in a position where they already have sufficient depth and quality.

If this is the type of cut-price move the club is looking for, they may as well forget about trying to bring European success back to Glasgow.
