Leeds fans react to Samu Saiz exit confirmation

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United have confirmed that attacking midfielder Samuel Saiz is set to join Spanish outfit Getafe on loan in the upcoming January transfer window, with the switch likely to be made permanent at the end of the season.

A report in the Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that Leeds have allowed the Spaniard to leave Elland Road for personal reasons, as he felt unsettled in England and wished to return to his home city of Madrid.

Whilst it is admirable of the club to accept these demands, should Marcelo Bielsa’s side fail to sustain their current promotion push, then the decision to allow their talented playmaker to leave in the winter will be looked back upon as a mind-blowing misstep by chairman Andrea Radrizzani.

The Whites will certainly have to replace Saiz in January, as they cannot do without his creativity and technical ability throughout the remainder of the gruelling Championship campaign.

Revealed: 88% of polled Everton fans think the club should sign Bundesliga prospect Kai Havertz

[ad_pod ]

It is no secret that Everton have been making some serious statements in the transfer market in recent seasons, showing impressive ambition and putting their money where their mouth is by bringing Gylfi Sigurdsson, Yerry Mina and Richarlison through the door for huge fees.

However, they must not rest on their laurels. Whilst they have been clever in their recruitment by bringing in younger players with the ceiling to improve, some areas are still looking unsustainable with older players, namely 29-year-old Sigurdsson.

The Icelandic international is a key player presently, but the Toffees have nobody who can replace his impact for when he starts to decline, so they should start putting the building blocks in place for the heir to his Goodison throne.

We asked Everton fans if they’d like to see Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz arrive on Merseyside to replace the former Swansea man in the centre attacking midfield role.

As shown by the results below, a huge 88% of voters said they’d like to see the player who has the potential to be a world-class attacker sign for the club…

Appointing Mark Hughes always seem a bad move by Southampton

Appointing Mark Hughes last year after his dreadful season with Stoke City always seemed like a terrible move from Southampton.

Yes, he managed to keep the club in the Premier League but in truth that was mainly down to Stoke, Swansea and West Brom being so poor.

The former Stoke manager was always doomed to fail at the club and it remains to be seen why the board kept him on at the beginning of this season. For a team that used to pride itself on wise higher management and youth development, that seems to have vanished now.

Southampton:

Sacking Hughes was the only move they could make at this point, especially with Fulham having appointed Claudio Ranieri. However, not only has the former Man U man left the club in a bad position but he has also cost them £6 million according to the Daily Mail.

The Breakdown

Appointing Ralph Hasenhuttl seems like a good move going forward and probably the one they should’ve made over the summer. The former German did a good job with RB Leipzig as he challenged Bayern Munich for the title and got Leipzig into the Champions League in their first season in the Bundesliga.

Not only is he one of the better upcoming managers but he also represents a return to the ideal that Southampton had once followed. It remains to be seen whether the 51-year-old will be able to keep the side in the Premier League but what is for certain is that Southampton may have found their long-term coach.

Southampton fans hail Obafemi’s goalless Leicester display and some rib Austin

Southampton are out of the Carabao Cup after Leicester City won on penalties on Tuesday night, to set up a quarter-final tie with Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Mark Hughes’ men made the long trip north from St Mary’s Stadium, and the Welshman handed Irish forward Michael Obafemi his first start for the Saints.

Hughes had called on Obafemi from the bench three times in the Premier League already this season, and the teenager made his senior Republic of Ireland debut against Denmark earlier this month.

Against Leicester, the 18-year-old led the line and had an excellent opportunity to open his Saints account with the scores level, but he was unable to find the net when well placed.

The St Mary’s outfit went on to lose the tie 6-5 on penalties after VAR ruled against Nathan Redmond when Steven Davis hammered home after 82 minutes – Roger East deeming the English winger had handled the ball in the build-up.

Obafemi had started in place of the injured duo of Danny Ings and Shane Long, as well as 29-year-old forward Charlie Austin, who has scored once in 11 outings this season.

Despite Obafemi missing his best chance to score and their side going on to lose the game, these Saints fans were optimistic about what the future holds for the teenager…

Tottenham fans bash Trippier after Aurier’s superb performance

[ad_pod ]Loads of Tottenham fans have been reacting to their momentous win over Inter Milan, and they suspect this could be the end of Kieran Trippier’s run at Tottenham.Tottenham put their fate into their own hands on Wednesday, as they must now simply match Inter’s result on the final matchday to secure progression to the next round of the Champions League.Of course, Barcelona are much trickier opponents than PSV, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side will certainly be high on confidence after yet another superb display.[brid autoplay=”true” video=”336338″ player=”12034″ title=”Watch The FPL Show Spotlight on West Ham and GW14 captain tips”]Nearly the entire squad seems to have hit top form at the perfect time, but few have been more impressive than Serge Aurier. The Ivory Coast international has bags of talent, but his silly mistakes and rash decisions made Trippier the clear first choice going into this season. The former PSG ace has completely cut out the mistakes though, and he made two tackles, three interceptions and two clearances in the win over Inter, just days after dominating Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.Fans now want Aurier to nail down the spot on the right side of defence, as Trippier has had a relatively poor start to the season. You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Revealed: 87% of Everton fans want to give Gabriel Barbosa’s career a lifeline

[ad_pod ]

La Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported, via Calciomercato, that Inter Milan have taken the decision to sell Gabriel Barbosa in the January transfer window.

Barbosa, commonly known as Gabigol, joined the Serie A club as a highly-rated young attacking prospect in 2016. However, the 4-cap Brazil international has failed to kick on since his arrival at the San Siro and is currently on loan back at the club where his career began, Santos.

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below…

Inter appear to have now given up on the 22-year-old, and are ready to cash in on the forward who has demonstrated impressive form since his return to the Brazilian domestic division, netting 26 times in 52 appearances.

The youngster remains a player with huge potential, and Everton would be wise to offer him a second chance to prove his worth at the highest level.

Goodison Park would be the perfect stage for Gabigol to begin rebuilding his career upon. Marco Silva has already worked wonders with one young Brazilian in Richarlison, and if he could get Gabigol back to his best too then he would add some serious firepower to the Toffees’ strike-force.

Everton fans certainly seem keen on a move for Barbosa. 87% of those who took part in our poll voted in favour of signing the outcast striker. See the full results below.

Transfer Focus: Arsenal should target Youri Tielemans to replace Aaron Ramsey

[ad_pod ]

Following the news regarding Aaron Ramsey’s likely departure to Bayern Munich, as reported by the Independent, Arsenal will need to be in the market for a player who possesses a similar goal threat from midfield.

What’s the word?

The Welshman’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and after negotiations regarding a renewal hit an impasse, the 27-year-old is now set to leave the club who he has spent over a decade with.

Ramsey’s departure will not necessarily leave a gaping hole in the Gunners’ engine room as such, but they have no midfielder who can make an impact in the box quite like the former Cardiff man can.

Unai Emery’s current options in central midfield consist of Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, Mohamed Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles; all good players in their own right, undoubtedly, but much less decisive in the final third in comparison to Ramsey.

Who can replace his threat?

Reiss Nelson looks likely to be the only player already within the Gunners’ ranks to add goals to the side when he returns from Hoffenheim, so Emery will need to dip into the market.

Of course, we all know the state of the current market, even more so for wealthy Premier League teams, and whilst Arsenal aren’t exactly lacking funds, they will not want to break the bank to replace a player they are losing for nothing.

So, in that respect, they should take advantage of the sticky situation Ligue 1 strugglers Monaco find themselves in, managed by Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

Les Rouges et Blancs are currently 19th in France’s top-flight, whilst their owner, Dmitry Rybolovlev, has recently been arrested on corruption charges. Its all a bit messy.

Signed from Anderlecht for around £20m last summer, Youri Tielemans was tipped for big things having just won Belgium’s Young Player of the Year award. The 21-year-old has three goals in 11 appearances in Ligue 1 this season and has been a bright light in a terrible campaign so far.

Tielemans is a very good passer of the ball and has a keen eye for goal, whilst his potential is still relatively unfilled. Manchester United held a strong interest in the player before his move to France, as did Arsenal, so this move could well be on.

Richarlison can join the elite with Everton team-mate Coleman the latest man to sing his praises

While Everton were able to take a point away from their Premier League encounter with Chelsea on Sunday, it was a game where they did not create much due to the home side’s dominance when it came to ball possession.

As a result, summer signing Richarlison failed to make much of an impact up front having been reduced to playing off scraps.

Nevertheless, the Brazilian has still been an amazing addition to Everton’s squad and has since been tipped by team-mate Seamus Coleman to make it to the very top.

The Breakdown

Speaking on the Toffees’ summer arrival, Coleman told the Liverpool Echo: “His [Richarlison] quality to score goals is amazing and his work-rate is second-to-none so that’s impressive. For him to put in a shift and get two goals [against Brighton] we are all very excited about him.

“The manger has signed really good guys, the lads we have brought in this season have been unbelievable around the place. He’s a top player and we are lucky to have him. He won’t get big-headed by his performances. He’s a great lad, he’s had a tough time to get here and I can see him going to the very top.”

It is still early days, of course, but Richarlison has shown he has all the tools needed to become an elite forward — as alluded to by Coleman.

The 21-year-old has pace to run in behind, can dribble, use both his feet, is a threat in the air and, most importantly, is starting to become a real goal threat.

This campaign, Richarlison has already scored six goals in 10 Premier League appearances, which is more than what he managed in 35 games last season at his previous club Watford.

Be it out wide or up front, the Brazil international is quickly developing into a quality forward.

Jansson’s comments show Leeds are on the path to glory

According to The Express, Leeds defender Pontus Jansson has highlighted what distinguishes this season’s Leeds team from previous ones.

The Sweden international mentioned the work ethic that manager Marcelo Bielsa has installed in the team since taking over in the summer.

Writing on Twitter, the centre-back talked about a break by Wigan forward Josh Windass from a corner in their recent match, whereby a number of players were able to track back and prevent the player getting a shot off, with Jansson putting in the challenge.

The Swede said that previous Leeds teams and players would not have had the will or desire to work their way back, but under Bielsa it is the opposite. The Argentine has created a culture where anyone that doesn’t work back will be questioned by their teammates.

This is a clear indication of the hunger and drive that the players have, which they may have lacked in previous seasons. These are the characteristics that define a league winning side, and have been inculcated into The Whites by Bielsa.

Jansson has been a standout player for Leeds since joining 2016, and has been a favourite under the new manager. This is probably because the defender’s attitude typifies the approach that Bielsa expects from his players, and which, in all fairness, they are showing so far this season.

Leeds returned to the top of the Championship table with Sunday’s win against The Latics, nudging ahead of Norwich on goal difference. With this attitude that Jansson describes, there is no telling how far this team can go.

Revealed: Majority of Everton fans think Gomes is a better fit than Ramsey

Next summer could see a scramble for Aaron Ramsey’s signature as he is expected to leave Arsenal.

According to a recent report in the London Evening Standard, the Gunners have no plans to offer the midfielder a new contract.

An initial deal was on the table but after the two parties failed to reach an agreement, it was withdrawn.

Ramsey’s contract expires next summer, which means that he will become a free agent at the end of the season.

Everton could be one of the club’s interested depending on what happens with Andre Gomes.

The midfielder – valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt – moved to Goodison Park from Barcelona in the summer, but he is only on a season-long loan deal.

It is unclear whether the Toffees will be able to secure a permanent arrangement, but the fans have certainly been impressed with his early performances.

Amid all the speculation relating to Ramsey’s future, we asked you who would be a better fit in Marco Silva’s team, and the majority have picked Gomes.
